Samuel Palmer [my Dad’s grandfather] married a Rachel Kinnon [Kinnen sometimes] on 23/06/1877 in St Comgall's RC Church, Antrim.  Click on the Certificate we requested from the priest.  We can see a Mary Palmer from Islandbawn is a witness which we think may be another sister of Sam.

Samuel was noted [on the civil record] to be working as a Railway Porter and he lived in Dunadry [A station used to be here; see photo below].  We find out later that he worked as a porter from 1870 [when was 22].    Margaret Ann Palmer, Sam's sister was a witness on the civil registration with her husband-to-be Daniel Barr.

The civil marriage ceremony [after the church one] took place on the 27/06/1877 [Antrim Roman Catholic, Grange of Muckamore, Co Antrim].  In the Church Records we find it interesting to note that Rachel Kinnon was described as a Convert.  There are records of Presbyterian Kinnens/ons in the Muckamore area.   It notes exactly on the computer database that ‘Wife Convert Husband a Heretic Father from Islandbawn’.  We want to check the original record to see if this means Sam or his father was a heretic [which might be a Protestant].
